The work of Peter Hough can be found at www.turnstonegallery.net
Peter attended Scarborough School of Art and Manchester Regional College of Art and has spent time both as a teacher and running his own pottery. After teaching at Accrington School of Art and Guildford College of Art he returned to Yorkshire and founded Scarborough Pottery in 1965. He ran the pottery for over twenty years before returning for a final spell in teaching at Scarborough Sixth Form College, retiring in 2005.
Peters current work is influenced by texture and surface in the natural world. "I am currently exploring surface techniques through Raku and, more recently, smoke firing. This is strongly evident in my recent work which is based on erosion formed pebbles and renders homage to the rich heritage of our fossil coast".
