Whitby born and bred Frank left for a career in the Army serving over seventeen years in the UK, BAOR, Bermuda, Singapore and Malaya. He took early retirement as a Major 'to live the good life' as a smallholder high up on the moors above Littlebeck. Five years later he changed direction to work with people with learning difficulties, another very rewarding challenge which lasted over seventeen years. |
In 1988, thanks to his wifes artistic talent, his interest in painting increased from mild to serious. Frank says "I began with watercolours, but enjoyed oils much more. Sea, landscape, figurative, action and portrait painting bring me the greatest pleasure". |
Frank has exhibited at Whitby Art Society, Local and North Yorkshire, R.N.L.I., Artists North, East Coast Open, Ferens Art Gallery, Hull, and in 2004 in 'Not the Turner Prize' at the Mall Galleries, London. A past Chairman of Whitby Art Society, its Secretary for over 10 years Frank was also a founder member of the Whitby Group of Artists at Grape Lane Gallery, Whitby. |
