The work of Vicki Rylands can be found at www.turnstonegallery.net
Vicki has been producing ceramics from home since 1990, near Grosmont in the depths of the North Yorkshire Moors.
Inspired by the ceramics of the Far East, Vicki has developed individual Raku fired pieces.
Work is burnished prior to biscuit firing, then decorated using slip-resist, during a second firing pieces are removed and reduced in sawdust. The resulting piece has a unique and tactile finish.
She believes that "beautiful pots can only enhance daily living" and aims to reflect these beliefs in her work.
