The work of Alan Thorpe can be found at www.turnstonegallery.net
Alan Thorpe sadly died in 2005, although we are privileged to be able to show his remaining work.
Alan had a deep love and fascination for land and seascape and the Yorkshire Coast provided an endless supply of subject matter and much of his painting involved water and reflections.
He regularly travelled abroad where he used a much broader and brighter palette, reflecting a strong impressionistic influence. His favourite visits were the Balearic and Greek Islands.
The vista before him gave him a basis for his work, enabling him to explore deeper into his creative thinking and allowing him a freedom to express his personal relationship with the subject. His paintings are full of atmosphere and evocative mood.
Alan's paintings are held in many private collections and galleries throughout the UK and abroad.
