Linda Lupton

Now that the Turnstone Gallery has permanently closed you can keep up with what Linda is doing by following the link at the bottom of this page.

Linda was born in Whitby, she was educated locally and raised her family here. Her painting has developed with guidance from evening classes and by painting with other artists from Whitby Art Society. Linda gains inspiration from the Staithes Group, the Glasgow Boys and the Newlyn School of Artists.

After working initially in oils she concentrated on watercolour, which has remained her favoured medium. Being a proud native of Whitby, Linda enjoys capturing the beauty of the area. Her understated, traditional approach is evident in her reflections of the harbour, beaches, woodlands and coastal and countryside villages.

In 1998 Linda appeared on Channel Four's Watercolour Challenge with Hannah Gordon. It was great fun and a tremendous experience, and she was chosen as the winner on the day.

Linda exhibits widely with Whitby Art Society, the Local and North Yorkshire, Whitby R.N.L.I., the Eskvale Painting Group, Artists North, East Coast Open, and the Ferens Art Gallery, Hull.
