Jackie Needham

Now that the Turnstone Gallery has permanently closed you can keep up with what Jackie is doing by following the link at the bottom of this page.

The inspiration for much of Jackie's work lies in the relationship between animals and humans within fairy tales and fables.

“Interweaving the symbolism of these ancient stories with personal memories, I blur the boundaries between truth and mythology to offer the viewer an alternative narrative. Some of my creatures reference a nostalgic past, being whimsical and gently humorous, whereas others are psychologically darker and thought provoking.”

She uses a variety of making and firing methods including the serendipity of smoke and saggar firing to achieve a range of surface colouration and textures to complement each unique piece.

Jackie's studio is in Hull.
