Mark was born in Western Australia in 1961 and began his professional career as a freelance artist after obtaining a diploma in graphic design. He worked in various industries for over 20 years, mainly in illustration, but relocation to the UK in 2008 enabled him to paint full time.
His paintings are inspired by the idiosyncrasies of the northern countryside, and the impact made is all the greater because of his experience of a very different landscape.
Mark works primarily in oils and enjoys exploring textures, colour and the intrinsic geometry of the natural world. His use of colour and form is bold, direct and challenges the viewer to think about familiar landscapes in a new way.
Based in Leeds, Marks reputation is growing and he exhibits at several galleries across the north of England. He is an exhibiting member of the Leeds Fine Art Club.
